Warning! Extremely biased and unfair review. Very salty. Others only have positive things to say, not I.
I like Trevell puzzles and I was interested in trying an almost 300 pc puzzle from the owners, since this is their third brand and all. The 280 pc puzzles from la pauz are overpriced MINIS, that are briefly described as such at the beginning of the description but nowhere else. This information should be prominently mentioned, such as in the title, because not everyone wants to do a mini puzzle. Suffice it to say, I missed this and that one is on me, though I'd argue la pauz could have done a better job of making it clear that these are mini puzzles. The dimensions are provided, yes, but you may not realize just how tiny it is until you get it in your hands.
If you want to try their minis, I'd suggest you buy a 99 pc puzzles before you decide to spend the average of a higher end puzzle on a slightly bigger mini. For comparison, I pulled out one of the 99 pc minis from my Reverie advent calendar and you can see that the sizes are very similar.
I'm a SUCKER for the artwork, so why isn't it bigger?! The art is so cute! I want to admire it in huge poster size!
One of their highlights is no plastic packaging. Cool, but they all came wrapped in a plastic bags anyway, which I'm assuming was Puzzledly being forced to provide extra packaging because their own reputation is on the line. You see, despite the hefty price tag, the boxes are not sealed (all-paper tapes exist?), puzzle pieces are loose (paper bags exist??) with lots of jostling space, which did end up damaging some of the pieces (for such an expensive mini, I expect better???).
My experience may have been soured by my own expectations, but I still want to try their 1000 pc puzzles. I think it's the best price per piece, and it's guaranteed to be a normally sized puzzle.
